Description
This is a contratual, on-site role for a Senior IBMi Engineers based in Poland (Warsaw/ Krakow/ Gdansk). The Senior IBMi Engineers will design, develop, and maintain software solutions on the IBMi platform. We are seeking an experienced IBMi Engineer to lead and execute the migration of IBMi (AS/400) environments to a Zero Trust security architecture. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the transformation from traditional IBMi security models to a modern Zero Trust architecture, ensuring enhanced security while maintaining system availability and performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Zero Trust Migration & Implementation:
Design Zero Trust security architecture for IBMi environments
Implement least-privilege access principles on IBMi systems
Migrate from traditional perimeter-based security to the Zero Trust model
Configure zone-based segmentation for IBMi workloads
IBMi Security Engineering:
Harden IBMi operating systems (OS/400, IBM i) according to Zero Trust standards
Configure and manage IBMi security features (User Profiles, Authorization Lists, Object Authorities)
Design and enforce granular access policies for databases, applications, and system functions
Integrate IBMi with modern Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions
Network & Access Security:
Implement network segmentation for IBMi environments
Configure exit points and network security controls
Design secure API gateways for IBMi applications
Deploy VPN and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions
Monitor and analyze network traffic to/from IBMi systems
Collaboration & Documentation:
Collaborate with security architects, network teams, and application owners
Document Zero Trust architecture, configurations, and procedures
Train operational teams on Zero Trust principles and IBMi security management
Develop migration plans with minimal business disruption
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of IBMi platform, RPG, and CL programming
- Proficiency in database management, SQL, and query optimization on the IBMi system
- Experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving system issues
- Understanding of system integration, architecture, and communication protocols
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to dynamic environments
- Familiarity with system upgrades, patches, and migrations
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant work experience may be considered
- Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and project management - methodologies is advantageous
